The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad is seeking eligible and qualified individuals for the Consular Investigations Assistant positions in the Fraud Preventive Unit (FPU) of Consular Section.
Basic Function of Position:
The Incumbent is responsible for fraud investigations in Immigrant Visa (IV), Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV), American Citizen Services (ACS), DHS/USCIS, federal benefits, and other federal agencies and related areas as requested by post. Additionally, the incumbent acts as the Unit Leader in the absence of the Consular Investigations Supervisor. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Position: Consular Investigations Assistant (FSN-8; FP-6*) Position No: I-30468, I-30866.
1. Education: Completion of 14 years of education in arts, science, or commerce is required.
2. Experience: Three years of progressively more responsible experience involving the application of immigration law and regulations and public contact as well as closely-related experience with visa or passport work, is required.
3. Language: Level IV (Fluent) Reading/Writing/Speaking of English and Urdu is required. Language skills will be tested.
4. Knowledge: The incumbent is required to have a solid working knowledge of USG laws, regulations, and policies related to IV, NIV, and ACS operations and must have good understanding of Pakistani laws and policies related to marriage, divorce, and international travel.
5. Abilities & Skills: The incumbent must be proficient in MS Office Suite in order to use the specialized consular software and must have keyboard and data entry skills. Ability to maintain contacts at the working level, ability to exercise initiative, and resourcefulness in obtaining evidence are required. Computer skills may be tested.

4. Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
5. Current employees who have voluntarily been reassigned/promoted from one position to another are not eligible to apply for six months from the effective date of the reassignment/promotion.
6. Current employees who have received any job-related training are not eligible to apply in another section/agency for six months from the effective date of the training.
7. U.S. Mission Pakistan will not bear any travel expenses for testing, interviews, pre-employment clearances (if selected) or relocation for joining.
